Neighbor-to-Neighbor

Picture

Everyone needs a helping hand or a friendly visit at some point. BAiP's Neighbor-to-Neighbor program, or N2N, offers the help of our carefully selected neighborhood volunteers.  N2N is our outreach to neighbors who may need assistance with errands or wish to have company for a walk in the park or a game of Scrabble.  Our N2N volunteers are also able to serve as an escort for a trip to the doctor or the grocery store.

If you need a helping hand or a friendly visit or are interested in joining our group of N2N volunteers, please call (212) 842-8831, ext. 32 or email: n2n@bloominplace.org.

As a reminder, here's what we provide depending on our volunteers' availability:
  • Help with, or escort for, errands (light grocery shopping, pharmacy, post office)
  • An escort for medical appointments and treatments
  • Someone to walk you to BAiP events and home again afterwards
  • A companion for conversation, museum visits, walks in the neighborhood or park
  • Someone to check in with you by telephone and see how you are doing
  • Information regarding other sources of help or support
  • A Tech Squad to assist with small things like email or cellphone woes or to hang a picture
  • A Resource Exchange with neighbors’ doctors and repair service referrals
Emergency Preparedness
To help our members prepare for emergencies, we offer two important downloadable forms. The first is a form to list your basic personal information and essential contacts, which you can leave in an accessible place in your home in case of emergency.  The second is a companion form to keep with your emergency contact information where you can list important health information such as the medicines, vitamins and supplements that you may take.  A third downloadable document provides references and tips to assist you in filling out these forms.

Experts on medical emergencies stress the importance of having this information handy. They advise having copies with you and posting the information on or near your refrigerator or bedside where first responders are authorized to look. It is important to keep this information up to date.  Recent events also illustrate the need to prepare for emergencies.

Members who need hard copies or who have any questions about these forms, should email us at emergencyinfopkt@bloominplace.org or call (212) 842-8831 ext 32.
You may download the forms by clicking the buttons below.  The forms will open in new windows in your web browser.
