The Tech Squad is a group of BAiP members willing and able to help other members with technology-related tasks and minor household repairs. Because we cannot gauge the volume of requests in advance or the availability of our Tech Squad volunteers, requests go into a queue. Members are informed whether a volunteer is available to assist.

Some of the things the Tech Squad can help with include:

  • Problems with computers, TVs, phones and other electronic devices, like tablets and smartphones.
  • Setting up internet, email or streaming accounts.
  • Troubleshooting hardware or software issues.
  • Installing computer or TV components (e.g. modems, printers, Rokus, etc.).
  • Loading or updating software.
  • Help with various household tasks, like hanging pictures, changing lightbulbs or refrigerator filters, repairing door hardware, etc.

Zoom Training and Resources

The coronavirus pandemic necessitated a pause of in-person activities and, where possible, a switch to remote volunteer-led activities using Zoom. During the pandemic, many members were able to learn to use Zoom to participate in activities and to socialize with neighbors while remaining appropriately distanced.

Because we continue to use Zoom for access to many of our activities, we have members who are willing to train other members in Zoom.
